With Jon Favreau directing, and Robert Downy Jr as Tony, I don't have high hopes.
At least the Jack Black Green Lantern seems to fallen off the face of the earth.

Favreau's done some decent work, although not in the comic book/action genre. I enjoyed both Elf and Zathura quite a bit. He's been soliciting thoughts from fans via the web; I'm hoping that translates to a faithful transition of IM from print to big screen.

As for Robert Downy Jr, I have mixed feelings. He's obviously had a tumultuous last few years but claims to have straightened out. If that's the case and he really is living the sober life, his casting could be an inspired piece of work. A recovering alcoholic playing a recovering alcoholic? Brilliant. So, I'm going to suspend judgment on the whole thing until I see the finished project.

Please, please, please don't screw this up.

While I disagree about the people involved (I really didn't like Elf or Zathura), it could work. If they went drama focused instead of action focused (like Bats Begins or Superman Returns) they could run the "Tony gives up the sauce" as a major plot point, and give it some depth.

Back when I first started reading comic IM was my third favorite (behind the Legion and Green Lantern).

So I agree.

Please don't screw this up.
